Literature Reading Group
The literature reading group was established during the winter semester 2015/16 and comes together regularly during the semester to passionately discuss works of contemporary literature as well as older, newly translated texts.
Among other works, we already discussed 2666 by Robert Bolaño, Infinite Jest by David Foster Wallace, 4321 by Paul Auster, Vernon Subutex by Virginie Despentes, Submission by Michel Houellebecq, and the Wolf Hall trilogy by Hillary Mantel. The new translations of older texts included The Foundation Pit by Andrej Platonov, One Hundred Years of Solitude by Gabriel García Márquez, Death on the Installment Plan by Louis-Ferdinand Céline, and Don Quijote by Miguel de Cervantes. We also discussed poetry by looking at Monika Rinck’s Honigprotokolle and Pensées sous les nuages by Philippe Jaccottet.
