“Briefwechsel von Ingeborg Bachmann und Paul Celan”
Radio talk with Sigrid Weigel

Radio interview with Sigrid Weigel and Raphael Urweider at SRF from 13 Feb 2009, 20.00

In May 1948, the philosophy student Ingeborg Bachmann and the poet Paul Celan, who left for Paris five weeks later, met in Vienna. The letters of the two bear witness to a complex love affair that became increasingly difficult over the years.
In 1967 Celan writes a last letter. The edition of the exchange of letters “Herzzeit. Ingeborg Bachmann – Paul Celan. Der Briefwechsel” sheds light on this gripping love story, but also raises new questions about the work of Bachmann and Celan.
Sigrid Weigel and Raphael Urweider discuss the relationship between letters and work, Isabelle Menke and Hanspeter Müller-Drossaart read from the letters.
