ICHTH – INTH Best Book Prize 2026 for Henning Trüper

Henning Trüper has been awarded the 2026 ICHTH–INTH Best Book Prize for his book Unsterbliche Werte Über Historizität und Historisierung (Immortal Values. On Historicity and Historicization, Wallstein 2024). The prize, awarded by the International Commission for the History and Theory of Historiography and the International Network for Theory of History, honors scholars whose books significantly contributed to the fields of history and theory of historiography.

Henning Trüper is Associate Professor for the History of Ideas at the University of Oslo. From 2020 to 2025, he led the project Archipelagic Imperatives. Shipwreck and Lifesaving in European Societies since 1800 and, prior to that, the project Humanitarian Imperatives. Saving Lives from Nautical Distress and Shipwreck in Modern Europe at the ZfL and served as co-coordinator of the program area History of Theory from 2021 to 2024. Trüper has previously conducted research and worked at the Helsinki Collegium for Advanced Studies, Technische Universität Berlin, Princeton University, and the École des Hautes Études en Sciences Sociales in Paris, among other institutions.
