All processes of text production, from writing and reading to publish, depend on collaboration. But how are these processes changing in the face of advancing digitalization? What impact do these changes have on our understanding of literary texts, which are now accessible to readers not only through publishers and printed books, but also in new online formats? What challenges does the possibility of generating texts using language models present?

Considering the current conditions for producing literary texts, Hanna Hamel draws attention to forms of cooperation that are not immediately apparent: transtextuality, for instance, as a fundamental relationship between texts, and the relationship between text and other art forms, such as film. She also concerns how new, surprising connections become tangible for readers within the text, and how these relate to the dynamic processes of reading and writing—processes that cannot yet be reproduced by machines.
