Two years after October 7, the debate over how to assess the events that followed the genocidal massacre continues. The authors of this volume examine the major differences that the war in Gaza and the global boycott of Israel have caused from an international perspective. Eva Illouz explores the question of whether anti-Zionism is “a form of anti-Semitism.” Jeffrey Herf, Norman Goda, and Bruno Chaouat present arguments that refute the accusation of genocide. According to Paul Berman, there is a continuity in the anti-Semitism of the American student movement that can be traced back to 1965. Anne Rethmann focuses on academic calls for boycott. Historian Benny Morris examines Rashid Khalidi’s work on the “Hundred Years’ War on Palestine,” which is considered the most important work on the subject from a Palestinian perspective, and concludes that it is a “somewhat pretentious, nationalistic romantic narrative.”

The volume will be published on February 2, 2026.
