Die Lust am Protest. Ästhetische Moderne in Wilmersdorf (1900–1933)

Venue: Das Romanische Café (exhibition) at Europa Center, Tauentzienstraße 9–12, 10789 Berlin
Research project(s): Neighborhood and Research

Many of the regulars at the Romanisches Café lived in the area between Nürnberger and Fasanenplatz for a time: Bertolt Brecht and Helene Weigel, Walter Benjamin and Mascha Kaléko, Else Lasker-Schüler and Herwarth Walden, Arno Holz and Heinrich Mann, to name a few. Literary scholar Detlev Schöttker follows their trail like a detective, reconstructing the neighbourhood as a birthplace of rebellious art.
