Todd H. Weir studied history at Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin and Columbia University. He has written two monographs on the cultural and political history of secularism in Germany. He is a professor at the University of Groningen in the Netherlands, where he leads a research project on the global history of the concept of “Weltanschauung” (worldview).

Falko Schmieder is a cultural theorist and research team leader of the project The 20th Century in Basic Concepts. A Dictionary of Historical Semantics in Germany.
