“The Dissident Library” is a series of online seminars that has been running since 2021. Its aim is to provide a regular forum where scholars of dissent, as well as anyone interested in the subject, can meet and exchange ideas.

In addition to research on dissent itself, the seminar explores work on samizdat, tamizdat, the underground, and other related topics. In recent years, the discussion has increasingly focused on the growing number of new publications in these fields.

At the same time, one of the seminar’s longstanding priorities has been to bring together participants in the dissident movement and editors of uncensored Soviet-era publications. Here, too, there remains ample scope for discussion.

Each seminar begins with a conversation between moderator, Olga Rosenblum, and the authors of the works under discussion, followed by an open discussion to which all participants are invited.

The seminars are held with simultaneous interpretation (Russian/English).
